Cobham and NordiaSoft Announce World's First Fully-Integrated SCA Development and Test System
Cobham AvComm and NordiaSoft, the world leader in Software Communications Architecture (SCA) tools, have announced a market first for the SCA community. The fully-integrated SCA platform supports the entire SCA lifecycle, from simulation through development, emulation, production and field test.

Combining Cobham's Modular AXIe hardware and NordiaSoft's SCARI Software Suite gives SCA developers a turnkey development system for implementing SCA Version 2.2.2 designs today and Version 4.1 later this year. The AXIe chassis and modules provide unparalleled value with ultra-high performance while maintaining a low total cost of ownership. The COTS modular AXIe system allows various plug and play configurations of transceivers, CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, and FPGAs.

The ADS-B Out Compliance Clock Keeps on Ticking
With more aircraft requiring    ADS-B updates, than there are time slots available in the que between now and 2020, it's becoming critical to find a fast, efficient and error-free method for testing your ADS-B equipment pairing installation. A convenient test solution is available with Cobham AvComm's new ADS-B Installation Approval app, which provides support of Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approvals and post approval testing of all performance requirements of 14 CFR §91.227.  Full compliance reporting can be accomplished without flying the aircraft or moving to an open sky surveyed location.
This new PC application,
controlling our IFR-6000 Flight Line Test Set and GPSG-1000 GPS Portable Simulator for positional data, will test the aircraft, identify installation errors via pass/fail criteria and collect all required data for detailed compliance reporting in just minutes. This will allow for a faster throughput of installation approvals to keep the line moving.

Meet Cobham's Newest Digital Land Mobile Radio Test Set, the 8800SX
Cobham has introduced the new 8800SX Digital Radio Test Set for testing Land Mobile Radio systems. The 8800SX features new software for testing a wide variety of Motorola and other OEM radio systems and also features a new external 10 MHz reference designed to ensure that Land Mobile Radio end users have the best equipment to ensure their radio equipment is operating at the highest standard. The 8800SX has been reviewed and approved by Motorola for maintaining all Motorola technologies including GTR8000 P25 Phase 2 and LSM systems.
Cobham introduced the new product as part of its exhibition at the International Wireless Communications Expo 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"We are pleased to have the 8800SX as part of Motorola's approved equipment list," said Rob Barden, Director of Product Marketing at Cobham AvComm. "The 8800SX is the newest variant of the highly successful 8800 Series family and features extensive test features designed to provide automated test and alignment, antenna and cable tests and advanced digital LMR radio analysis for a wide range of analog and digital radio systems manufactured by many LMR radio equipment suppliers."

Now Available: DMR Repeater Test Option for the 8800 Series Digital Radio Test Set
Cobham announced the release of the DMR Repeater Test Option for the 8800 Series Digital Radio Test Set. This option enables the 8800 Series to test the transmitter and receiver of a DMR repeater ba se station. The 8800 Series is able to generate the signalling protocol that is necessary to "wake-up" the DMR repeater and cause it to start transmitting. The 8800 Series is then able to generate TDMA bursts that are synchronized to the signal transmitted by the repeater.
The 8800 Series can then measure the transmitter parameters of the repeater, including RF power, RF frequency error, FSK error, and FSK symbol deviation. In addition, the 8800 Series can determine the bit error rate of the receiver, by comparing the 8800 Series transmitted data to the data received from the DMR repeater. This bit error rate measurement can be used to determine the sensitivity level of the DMR repeater.

ATC-5000NG DME Option Now Available for Delivery
The Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) Test Option, for the recently released ATC-5000NG NextGen Transponder Test Set, is now ready for delivery on new test set orders. Fielded units can be upgraded to include the new DME option.
DME still plays a fundamental role in aviation by determining distance, or slant range, from the aircraft to the ground station. With the DME option installed, the ATC-5000NG can be used by repair shops and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to test DME airborne systems by emulating a ground station.
Designed for engineering development, design validation, manufacturing and return-to-service test applications, the ATC-5000NG is the replacement product for the legacy SDX-2000 and the ATC-1400A/S-1403DL test sets. The software defined radio architecture supports more transponder RTCA (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) DO-181E test capability than the legacy products did. It also has the new capability needed to support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) NextGen test requirements including ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) RTCA DO-260B and UAT (Universal Access Transceiver) RTCA DO-282.
"We are excited that through our 2015 launch of the ATC-5000NG, we are helping our customers prepare for the FAA's NextGen and Europe's SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) Air Traffic Control (ATC) Modernization projects. Now with the release of the DME Option, we will be satisfying yet another market need," said Guy Hill, Director of Avionics Test Products for Cobham AvComm.

To upgrade an existing ATC-5000NG, the unit must be returned to the factory. To schedule a DME option update to an MDC inventory unit or a customer unit, contact Customer Service to obtain an RMA.
