Cobham AvComm Delivers First ATC-5000NG Units in August

Cobham AvComm has made its first deliveries of the new ATC-5000NG NextGen ATC/DME Test Sets.

The ATC-5000NG is an RF signal generator/receiver for testing Mode 3/A, C and S transponders. The ATC-5000NG was designed with modern software defined radio technology to support the FAA's NextGen mandates and future standards changes. An option is available to support the legacy SDX-2000 command set today and an option to support the ATC-1400/S-1403DL command set will be available in the future.

The ATC-5000NG supports current standards and is capable of performing most MOPS tests for DO-181E, DO-260, DO-260A, DO-260B and DO-282B.

8800 Software Version 2.0.0 release - P25 Phase 2 and Other New Features
Cobham AvComm announces the release of Software Version 2.0.0. for the 8800 Series Digital Radio Test Set. This exciting release includes the P25 Phase 2 option for testing base stations and subscribers.

The Auto-Test options further expand to include fully automated testing and alignment of the Motorola XTS® / XTL ASTRO® 25 Radio series. A new Digital Decode tile displays expanded decode parameters, such as Link Control, Algorithm ID, Key ID, etc, for P25 as well expanded decode parameters for NXDN™.  The Frequency List feature now includes entries for PL / DCS, NAC, Color Code, RAN, and Channel Codes within the list. This makes it even faster to recall frequencies and perform tests. Also, Meters now include "green", in addition to "red" and "blue" for fast visual indication of system performance.

Other enhancements strengthen the 8800 series' analog test capabilities to be used as a replacement for aging legacy radio test tests.  These include the addition of a SNR Meter, Selectable Notch Filters, and simultaneous generation of RF Modulation and Audio Frequency Generators.

New 8800S units shipping from the factory with 2.0.0 firmware support a lower port impedance (< 1 Ohm) on the Audio Out port, which matches the port impedance of legacy test instruments and ensures continuity of modulation measurements.

There are many other improvements to the operation of the 8800 Series with this new release. For all other improvements, see the Release Notes located at www.aeroflex.com/8800S.
IFR6000 Firmware Version 3.10.00 Now Available

New firmware release Version 3.10.00 is now available for the IFR6000.

This release addresses various bug fixes for ADS-B, UAT and transponder testing. It is available for field installation and can be downloaded on the web site here. This update does not affect the calibration of the unit. An information bulletin is also available outlining all updates.

The IFR6000 was designed to meet the testing requirements of next generation transponders designed for the new Air Traffic Management Systems. New transponder technologies include ADS-B and UAT capabilities.
