Aeroflex Announces Support for dPMR and NXDN™ Vocoder Operation on the 3920B Series Digital Radio Test Set

Aeroflex announced support for the dPMR and NXDN Vocoder for the 3920B Series Digital Radio Test Set. The addition of the AMBE2+ Vocoder for dPMR and NXDN digital narrowband technologies allows users to decode voice data directly on the test set.

"Our customers have consistently requested this feature for the 3920B. The addition of the Vocoder support continues to show Aeroflex's support for the PMR market by continuing to offer the broadest range of support available on any test system," said Rob Barden, Director of Product Marketing for Aeroflex Radio Test Systems. "This new vocoder technology allows users to decode and listen to critical voice information directly over the air or from radio systems under test."

In addition to vocoder support for dPMR and NXDN technologies, Software Version 3.3.0 supports enhancements for P25 and TETRA Enhanced Data Standard (TEDS) operational modes for the

ATG/Aeroflex Strategic Alliance to Provide NextGen Transponder and TCAS Avionics Test Equipment

Aeroflex is pleased to announce that they have entered into a long term strategic alliance agreement with Advanced Technical Group Company (ATG), located in Miami Lakes, FL. The initial focus of the alliance will be to integrate ATG's modern software-driven digital modulation technology (TTG-5000 and TTG-7000) into the Aeroflex transponder and TCAS test equipment product lines. These test solutions will support testing requirements driven by the FAA's NextGen airspace transformation mandate.

978 MHz UAT Option Now Available for the IFR6000

Aeroflex announced the release of a new option for the IFR6000, the most widely used and popular avionics transponder test set available. The new IFR6000 (Option 5) UAT upgrade allows easy, user friendly installation support and verification of ADS-B/TIS-B and FIS-B information over 978 MHz frequency for aircraft flying below 18,000 feet.

The 978 MHz Universal Access Transceiver (or UAT) is a data link that supports ADS-B as well as TIS-B and FIS-B as part of the new Next Generation (NextGen) mandate. ADS-B transmits aircraft ID, altitude, and operational ground and in-flight position and situational awareness details to the cockpit. TIS-B is a passive air traffic awareness system and FIS-B is flight information including weather notices and terminal information. All of this will help pilots fly more safely and save money while doing so. UAT transceivers will also be installed on airport ground support equipment (fuel trucks, life support and emergency equipment) whose installations will also need to be verified.

GPSG-1000 Software Version 3.0.0 Release - New Features and Capabilities

GPSG1000

Aeroflex announced the release of software version 3.0.0 for the GPSG-1000 that includes the implementation of the following improvements and feature enhancements:

* Added support for additional latitude and longitude formats

* Improved user interface to enter and edit latitude and longitude values making the entry of values easier for the user

* Added ability to playback power levels from NMEA 0183 GSV sentences to more closely simulate real world signal conditions

* Added ability to clear route information from route table, saving the user time and effort of manually clearing the route table during the creation of new routes

* Added waypoint page under the file menu that gives the user the ability to import and export waypoint information between units using USB device

GPSG-1000 NMEA Record/Playback Capability and its Value to Customers in Transportation and Wireless-M2M Telematics Sectors

Validating the performance of Asset Tracking and other Telematics devices is increasingly necessary as this technology becomes more mainstream and popular.  Until affordable GPS simulation and test devices were developed, like the GPSG-1000, validation of Asset Tracking and Telematics hardware required physical drive testing or use of expensive GPS simulation assets.  Current and future end users of the GPSG-1000 can record the 3D positional waypoints and velocities during a route, as well as the satellite signal environment overhead, during a "one time" drive test.  An operator can then save that file in the GPSG-1000's memory and re-use or simulate it later, thus eliminating the need for drive testing and a potential bottleneck of GPS simulation requirements on more expensive test assets.  The NMEA Record and Playback Mode is a standard function on all newly purchased GPSG-1000's and a free of charge software upgrade for fielded units with the release of software version 3.0.0.
